About us

View of landscape

Mountsett Crematorium is on the outskirts of Dipton and has views of the surrounding valley.

It opened in August 1966 and was designed by Charlton and Crowther of Bond Street, Leeds. It is owned and operated by a Joint Committee on behalf of Durham County Council and Gateshead Council.

Settled amid beautiful woodland, fauna and flora, its ‘T’ shape building formation allows captivating panoramic views over the serene meadows and surrounding villages.

There are toilets at the entrance/exit, including two accessible ones. There is also a waiting room with cold water dispenser.

While we are dog friendly we do ask that they are kept on a lead at all times.
